BluffCube Kickstarter: New Compression Packing Cube from Bluffworks

As a one-bag travel enthusiast, packing cubes have been an invaluable tool for helping to keep my stuff organized and force me to really think about what I want to travel with. Over the past year, I've become a big fan of the versatile clothing options that Bluffworks offers as they make it easy to travel more minimally and without having to compromise on comfort or style. With the ability to travel with less, however, traditional packing cubes are not always the most optimal solution. The compression on these cubes cannot be used effectively if the cube is not full, clothes can start to shift around or get wrinkled, and the cubes come in fixed sizes so you can often end up with just a little too much for a smaller packing cube, but not quite enough for a larger one.

In order to help solve these challenges, Bluffworks got to work on their next project: the BluffCube.

At first glance, the BluffCube looks different from most of the packing cubes that I have used in the past. Instead of a zipper that goes around the perimeter of the cube and opens flat, there is a strap that holds down a flap that allows the cube to be loaded from the top. Along the sides the cubes have a durable fabric mesh that makes it easy to find the items you need and provides a nice amount of breathability when storing items that have been worn for a few days or have accumulated any moisture. A nice additional touch is a full length side zipper that allows access to the full volume of the cube without having to take everything out.
The most unique feature on the BluffCube is the adjustable velcro strap and buckle compression system. Having a strap system vs traditional zipper compression provides more flexibility in how the space in the packing cube can be used. You can fill the cube up and compress everything down. If you need to take something out, you can easily do so and then adjust the strap to compress away unused space. Now instead of having to worry about a cube that is too big or small, you can adjust it to the size that works best for you.

What Can It Pack?

The BluffCube comes in two sizes: small (3.9L) and large (10.5L). The small cube will be great for storing items such as underwear, socks, or toiletries and the larger cube is great for holding jeans, shirts, and other bulkier clothing items. Even when fully packed out, the BluffCube never feels too big, but it can still hold an impressive amount of stuff. Based on the items that I normally travel with, even just using the large BluffCube I would be able to travel for a week.

BluffCube Pro and Sport

In order to accommodate for a variety of travel styles and needs, Bluffworks is offering Pro and Sport versions of the BluffCubes. The Pro Version provides a little more structure (which means slightly more weight at about 3.2 oz) and may be better suited for business travelers that have dressier clothes and larger bags. The Sport Version is lighter (coming in at around 2 oz) and less rigid to allow for more flexibility. Both versions come in a large and small size and are made out of a durable ripstop nylon polyester that feels like it will hold up well for many trips to come.

The Kickstarter campaign for the BluffCube is now live. If you are interested in grabbing one (or a few) set of these versatile packing cubes, they are available starting at $38 for the Sport Set and $45 for the Pro Set and you can make your pledge by visiting the link below.
