While planning a recent trip to Lapland, Finland I was curious to see if ChatGPT could put together a useful packing list. I was starting to feel overwhelmed and I've never traveled to somewhere as cold as Lapland so I wanted to take advantage of any resources I could. After concluding the trip I was surprised at how good the list actually ended up being for what I actually ended up needing. Read below to see the prompt that I used and then list that was created for me. PromptHere was the prompt I entered into ChatGPT to generate my packing list (this is customized for my inexperience traveling to colder climates and the length of my trip): "Can you help me put together a packing list for a first time trip to Lapland. I live in Florida and don’t have experience with extreme cold temperatures " After putting together an initial list it asked me to clarify the activities I would be doing and the exact dates I would be there to help tweak the list: "We are going December x - y and will be doing sled dog tour and northern lights tour (prefer packing light if possible)" ListClothing
How Close Was it?Overall, this list was pretty spot on. My anxiety got the better of me and I ended up overpacking by quite a bit, but if I had followed this list I would have been just fine and been able to travel carry on only.
