Review of the updated Osprey Daylight 26+6 Expandable Backpack which offers a versatile size, lightweight materials, a well-rounded feature set and it comes in at only $100. I don’t know if the perfect carry on / personal item backpack exists, but this feels like it comes in very close and if you’re looking for a versatile bag for an upcoming trip, this is definitely one to take a look at. 

Pros:

• Versatile size that works well as a personal item while providing a surprising amount of space
• Ability to expand to a standard carry on size
• Simple, but useful pocketing 
• Lightweight materials

Cons:

• No dedicated laptop compartment
• Luggage passthrough can dig into your back a bit
